New Delhi, IndiaAlexander Stubb has arrived in India on a four-day state visit from March 4 to March 7, 2026, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking his first official visit to the country since assuming office.

President Stubb was accorded a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour upon arrival in New Delhi on Wednesday, where he was received by Minister of State for External Affairs K V Singh as diplomatic engagements between the two nations gather pace.

A highlight of the visit will be President Stubb’s role as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the 11th Raisina Dialogue 2026, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, scheduled to take place from March 5 to March 7. The Dialogue brings together global leaders, policymakers and experts to discuss pressing strategic issues and multilateral cooperation.

In addition to his participation at the Raisina Dialogue, President Stubb is set to hold high-level talks with Indian leadership, including meetings with President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Discussions between the Finnish and Indian leadership are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties, expanding trade and cooperation across multiple sectors, and addressing regional and global challenges of mutual interest.

Following engagements in the capital, President Stubb will travel to Mumbai, where he will meet the Governor and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, engage with local business leaders, and address students at the University of Mumbai, further underscoring the emphasis on people-to-people and economic ties.

The Indian government views this visit as a step toward deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation with Finland, a valued partner within the European Union and the Nordic region. The visit follows a recent trip to India by Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo for the AI Impact Summit in February, reflecting growing engagement between the two countries.
